Reflection to artists
- What stood out to you after hearing Arturo Herrera and Mark Bradford talk about their work and process? Both of them used collage and newspaper. I liked how Mark Bradford used sandpaper to change up his work when he didn't like how something looked.
- How do any of these ideas relate to you in your current project? What could you use from them to help your work? A lot of their work was changing. They had one big idea and then kept making small changes to it. Ideas can change and sometimes you do not always go with your first idea because it might not always be your best one.
- Where are you in your newspaper project? What is fueling your idea and thinking? I am at the point where I am coming up with my idea. I have gathered many images from the newspaper that are interesting to me and that I might be able to use in my project. I am thinking I will do something with portrait or pictures of players that I like and then collage them and put them in some kind of order.
- Don’t forget to post any images that your are looking at to your blog!

Final Reflection
My strengths this term were:
I think I did a really good job coming up with good ideas for my projects and then expanding onto my idea in order to make them into finished pieces of art work. I also think I was good at using x block time when I needed too. At the end of the I remember coming and working a couple days during that time. This was good cause it made me not so overwhelmed with finishing up my projects.
Some things I struggled with were:
I think for me it might have made my art work slightly different or even in a few cases maybe better if I had tried more materials. I think trying paint was good but I think if I had done more of that and expanded on what materials I used it could have benefited me because in the past I have worked with pencil and paint before. For me I think I had the tendency to work with what felt right or comfortable to me. This is ok however, looking back I wish maybe I had taken a few more risks by maybe trying a few more materials.
Project I am most proud of and why was:

I am most proud of my test image picture. I draw David Ortizs hands of when he points to the sky after he hits a home run. I just feel like to me out of all my work that this piece felt the most complete and finished even thought I did manage to complete other pieces. I just like the the image of the hands and text came out.

Well for me I did not really like the drawing from observation downstair. I just felt most of the projects we did were pretty similar without a ton of variety and I have not been a huge fan of drawing from observation like that over the past few years.

Midterm Reflection
Overall, I feel I have been doing pretty well in drawing class. I have for the most part been engaged each day in class and able to get my work done. Every now and again I can sometimes get a little distracted during class. I feel that my process is pretty good when I am doing my work. I am good at planning out my ideas for projects and assignments in my sketchbook before I start the actual project. I tend to draw pictures and practice drawing my idea out my sketch before I start the actual assignment. My product in this class overall has been pretty good. I have not finished all of the assignments yet but, my projects have been looking good and the end results have been turning out pretty well. I have found the sketchbook to be a helpful tool to use in class. It is a good place for me to draw out my ideas and thoughts. For the assignments in my sketchbook I have done a good job keeping up with them and doing what is asked of me. However I might be able to improve if I possible tried new materials or by simply diving in and not worrying about the outcome of my drawings as much.
In this class I am not that fond of drawing from observation. For me sometimes it can be hard to look at something and than try and draw it to scale on paper. Drawing myself was challenging for me because you had to be careful you drew the different parts of your body in the right spot on your paper.
Drawing and painting are valuable methods for making an image. They can sometimes give you a sense to how an image is made and the process that it takes to make a painting or a drawing and how much work it might take to make one.
One project I have been working on is my Windows and Door. In this project I have been focusing my idea of a hallway and a shadow of someone in the door way. I have been paying close attention to the color and the lighting in my drawing. I wanted to have a shadow of a person in the door way looking down a dark hallway. I am making the door way bright by drying in a lightbulb on the ceiling. I wanted to make the door way bright but at the same time I was just having a shadow of a person in the doorway.
